Today's class:
  • We started class with a warmup on relations and functions. Give it a try and check your answers with the KEY: Function and Relation Warmup.docx and the Answer Key.
  • Then we had a discussion about the use of the word, "function" in everyday language. See examples here . Our discussion focussed on the idea that the word function suggests a dependence. Can you find the independent and dependent variables in each example?
  • Today's lesson was about function notation and how to draw a mapping diagram from a function rule. See Coral's and Emmy's notes: Notes - April 21, 2010.pdf
  • We also briefly looked at features in the new graphing calculator operating system.
